Matthew Atokple is the founder of Feed the Generations. His passion for sharing the love of Christ and sustainable farming may seem like an interesting combination, but through the story that follows we trust you will see how the two have become beautifully intertwined.

As the child of farmers from a small village in Ghana, Africa, Matthew grew up immersed in agriculture. Ironically, he determined early in life to study business as a way of escaping the farmer’s life to which he was accustom; but God had other plans. It was actually while he was actively pursuing his business education that he discovered his love for plants and the beauty in their growth.

It was also during this time that Matthew underwent deep hardships and confronted true hunger. Out of suffering this adversity, his passion to help others grew into a desire to prevent anyone from ever experiencing hunger.

With very little material possession, but a great deal of passion, Matthew stepped in faith and left his pursuit of business by accepting a teaching position at City of Refuge Ministries (CORM), an NGO dedicated to ending child trafficking in Ghana. It was in this place that Matthew’s passion turned into action.

Over the years Matthew’s role evolved from teaching students Math and English, to teaching the CORM community the importance of sustainable farming. The classroom was God’s way of calling Matthew in obedience, but his passion for growing crops and sharing a love of farming has shaped his calling to serve God, and others, in an expected way.

That way is through Feed the Generations (FTG). Matthew considers it an honor that the Lord has gifted him with a strong desire, and passion, to transform the world around him through the love of Jesus and agriculture. His prayer is that God will utilize this organization, and its heart for caring for those on the underside of life, to further His Kingdom in His name.
